Belgium-based scrap tire management organization Recytyre published its annual report noting that last year the state collected over 86,500 tons of waste tires – this exceeds the figure of 2017 when 83,703 tons were gathered.

Thus, the company managed to outperform its targets set earlier, according to Chris Lorquet, the CEO of Recytyre.

He also noted that greater number of tires were collected within the agricultural segment, and the sector represents over 5 percent of all scrap tires gathered. There is also a drastic change in tire collection compared with the trends recorded a decade ago when less than 2,900 tons were collected.

The dominant part of all scrap tires has undergone recycling and was converted into rubber granulate which will be applied in the steel and cement industries.
