Despite the ongoing slump in natural rubber prices, Nikkei Asian Review has reported, that Sime Darby is planning to Grow More RubberSime Darby plans on expanding its rubber plantation activities. In the report a senior company executive was cited saying that, by 2020, the Malaysian group aimed on raising rubber plantations to 10 percent of its total ‘land bank’, from 2 percent currently. It was also added, that Liberia will be a key focus of the expansion plan due to the emerging automotive industry in Africa and due to shortages of land on which to grow rubber in South East Asia.
