Launched on September 30 by the Football Federation of Ukraine, its tire recycling plant will produce artificial turf for football and other athletic fields. The facility is located in Kyiv region’s Boryspil district.

After the launch of the plant, which was attended by the President of the Ukrainian Football Federation Andrei Pavelko and Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Kirilenko, the Football Federation of Ukraine is now considered the world’s first national football association that holds ownership of a production facility that produces artificial turf and coatings for fields in different sports.

The total amount of investment for plant development is estimated at 10 million euros. No public funds were used to support the initiative and the construction was made in the shortest possible time, said the FFU’s press service.

The FFU asserted that the plant has the capacity to manufacture approximately 700,000 square meters of artificial turf – around 100 full-sized football fields can be produced. In addition, the facility plans to produce crumb rubber to use it as a filler for its synthetic turf. According to Football Federation of Ukraine, tire recycling line was supplied by American company Eco Green Equipment.

Once the company obtains international quality certification to comply with ISO standards, the facility will get a chance to work globally, which may increase the annual production capacity to 2 million square meters of artificial turf.
