The Tire and Rubber Association of Canada (TRAC) is pleased to recognize outstanding individuals and businesses for their dedication and commitment to excellence in the tire and rubber industry including end-of-life (ELT) tire management and other businesses focused on sustainability. The Awards Ceremony took place following the Association’s Annual General Meeting on June 6, 2026, at the Association’s offices at the Alt Hotel Toronto Airport in Mississauga.

The Tire and Rubber Association of Canada (TRAC) announces its new Board of Directors following its Annual General Meeting of members held on June 6, 2024. At that meeting, the members elected two new directors: Michelle Black of Michelin North America (Canada) Inc. and Christine Baker of Cabot Corporation. Ms. Black serves as Corporate Counsel/Strategic Business Advisor at Michelin. Previously she worked at Stewart McKelvey. She received her BSc in Psychology from Nipissing University, her MSc in Anatomy and Neurobiology/Neuroscience and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Dalhousie University.

Circtec Ltd, one of the global leaders in end-of-life tyre chemical recycling through pyrolysis technology has acquired Granuband B.V., a leading Netherlands end-of-life tyre collection and recycling company. With a substantial recycling plant in the industrial port of Amsterdam, capable of processing 50,000 tonnes per year of end-of-life tyres into granulate, moulded products and tyre chips, Granuband is one of the main end-of-life tyre recycling companies in the Benelux region.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) is proposing to grant authorisation for the Tyre Product Stewardship scheme to continue for a further 3 years. The Tyre Stewardship Australia (TSA) implemented scheme aims to increase the number of tyres being recycled and the use of tyre derived products in environmentally appropriate ways in Australia and overseas.

Neste, Borealis and Covestro have signed a project agreement to enable the recycling of discarded tires into high-quality plastics for automotive applications. The collaboration aims at driving circularity in plastics value chains and the automotive industry. When no longer fit for use, tires are liquefied by means of chemical recycling and then processed into base chemicals and further into polycarbonates of high purity. These can then be used in various automotive applications, from parts of headlamps to radiator grilles.
