Rubberized asphalt is one of the most significant applications for recycled tyre rubber. In the United States this type of use dates back to the 1950s where today it represents a consolidated market. In Brazil the main highway is using asphalt binders modified by tyre rubber powder, and currently Cbb Asfaltos, a Brazilian company, who received a Green Patent for the process from the Brazilian Government, has the best technology in Latin America for this process.

The initiative Alliance Zukunft Reifen (AZuR) presents itself as a pioneer in tire circular economy at the heart of the "Circular Economy" theme at THE TIRE COLOGNE 2024. From June 4th to 6th, 2024, the international tire and wheel industry will gather at the fair in Cologne to showcase new developments in the field of tires and rims. This year, for the first time, there will be a dedicated section for the "Circular Economy" theme on the platform. 16 AZuR partners will inform visitors about all segments of sustainable tire circular economy at the joint stand in Hall 7.

Smithers Carbon Black World conference is returning across the 14-15 May 2024 at the Imperial Riding School in Vienna, Austria. Over 200 carbon black representatives are expected to join us in Vienna this May. Pyrum Innovations AG (Pyrum) has laid the foundation for its market entry in Scandinavia. Consulting agreement was signed between GreenTech Recycling Tires AB and Pyrum Innovations AG for the construction of a joint pyrolysis plant in Sweden. It is planned that Pyrum will participate in the SPV with up to EUR 3 million, provided that GreenTech’s financing has been fully secured. The company is currently conducting talks in this regard. At the same time, GreenTech Recycling Tires AB has already reserved a suitable site in Billingsfors, Sweden, held talks with tire suppliers and, with Pyrum’s support, will soon begin compiling the necessary approval documents. The official start of the project in the form of the commencement of work on the basic engineering is scheduled for the beginning of July this year. Both partners are aiming to build a plant with a recycling capacity of 20,000 tonnes of end-of-life tires per year. Production is scheduled to start in 2027.

KIAS Recycling, the only end-of-life tire plant in Austria located in Ohlsdorf, dedicated to breaking down end-of-life car and truck tires into their constituent elements to create usable materials. Truck tires of various sizes clutter the area outside the company premises, alongside car wheels. Managing Director Christian Zirgoi notes that all that remains are tire shreds the size of a hand. At KIAS Recycling's tire recycling plant, the tires undergo shredding, grinding, and sieving processes, enabling the separation of their individual components: spring steel, textile fibers, and rubber, which is then processed into flour or granules.
