Allianz Insurance Singapore launches nation’s first tire recycling initiative
Allianz Insurance Singapore has introduced Recycle My Tyres, a pioneering initiative aimed at promoting sustainable tyre disposal and reducing automotive waste across the country. In partnership with local recycler Global Enviro Technology, the programme is the first of its kind led by an insurer in Singapore.
Car owners can now drop off used tyres at participating Allianz-authorised workshops, where they are collected and processed using patented RF plasma pyrolysis technology. This advanced method transforms scrap tyres into valuable materials such as recovered carbon black, syngas, and steel—diverting waste from incineration or landfills.
“As an insurer, we see first-hand the impact mobility has on our environment,” said Ong Bi Ying, Chief Operating Officer of Allianz Insurance Singapore. “That’s why we’re taking this step, not just for our customers, but also for the wider community of drivers who care about making more sustainable choices.”
The initiative is open to the public at no cost. Tyre collection volumes and estimated carbon savings will be tracked to highlight the environmental impact and raise awareness of circular mobility practices.
