Bolder Industries secures €32 million EU grant to recycle 4 million end-of-life tires annually at Antwerp facility
Bolder Industries – an American tire pyrolysis operator – reports it is honored to be awarded an EU grant that will help the company to continue its work in circular materials.
As reported in the company's recent press release in the Recycling International magazine, Bolder's Antwerp facility to recycle four million tires with EU funding.
A subsidiary of Bolder Industries will recycle over four million end-of-life tires per year at a new facility planned for Antwerp, Belgium. Supported by a €32 million grant from the European Commission’s EU Innovation Fund and an additional €2 million from the Flanders region, the plant is slated to begin operations by 2027.
According to the article, the new facility will cut greenhouse gas emissions by up to 85% compared to conventional carbon black production. Equipped with four reactors and a modern finishing line, the plant will be powered by wind energy and on-site heat, producing eco-friendly materials like BolderBlack and BolderOil for use in tires, wetsuits, automotive parts, and renewable fuels.
Construction is set to start in 2026, and Bolder sees this expansion as both a step toward increased sustainable manufacturing in Europe and a model for future projects.
