Ecuador makes steps towards circular economy in tire recycling
Ecuador is making attempts to move towards circular economy and to promote tire recycling. The first facilitator of that in the country is a non-profit organization Seginus launched in 2018. The company recently announced on its website that it celebrated 1000 days of its existence, and, all this time, they have been trying to give nd-of-life tires second life.
Seginus gets its funding from the Ecovalor that charges a special tire recycling fee for each waste tire. This fee is paid by a consumer when he purchases tires or imports them. This fee also makes funding of social campaigns possible as it aims to educate the people and show them why tire recycling is so important.
Seginus is formed by scarp tire importers and tire producers who mostly operate on the Ecuadorian market.
