Scandinavian Enviro Systems (Enviro) has completed the delivery and installation of five pyrolysis reactors for its tire recycling plant in Uddevalla, Sweden. The company confirmed that the work was carried out on schedule. "With the delivery of the fifth and final reactor, all equipment included in the main process is now in place and fully assembled," said Fredrik Emilson, CEO of Enviro.

The main process at the facility consists of the pyrolysis reactors and a unit known as the main skid, which circulates gas, condenses oil, and enables the recovery of carbon black, oil, and steel. This step is followed by post-processing, where further separation, refinement, and storage take place.

The five reactors were delivered in batches starting at the end of August to the site outside Uddevalla, where Enviro is building its first full-scale recycling plant. The project is led by Infiniteria, the joint venture formed by Enviro, Antin Infrastructure Partners, and Michelin.

Construction has been underway for about 18 months and is now reaching the stage where most process equipment is on-site and installed. Enviro has stated that the plant is expected to begin operations by the end of this year, with provisional acceptance (PAC) planned for mid-2026. In its first phase, the plant will be capable of processing 34,500 tons of end-of-life tires annually.

"Having followed this construction in detail since it first started on a snowy day in February last year, it feels very good to see the five reactors in place. The reactors are the most central part of the entire plant as they are the core of our recycling technology. It is in these that we will recycle valuable carbon black and oil and contribute to a more sustainable and circular society with good profitability," Emilson added.
