German AZuR calls for immediate end-of-life tire exports ban
Around 200,000 tons from Germany exported old tires per year are mainly used in the Middle East as fuel in cement works. Around 140,000 tons of CO 2 emissions are released. The Alliance for the Future of Tires AZuR is therefore calling on responsible federal and state politicians to immediately ban the unregulated incineration of German export tire waste in non-EU countries.
Due to the devastating consequences of unregulated burning, rapid action is required. Especially since Germany has once again missed its climate targets for 2022. A ban would solve a serious environmental problem with comparatively little effort and without subsidies. In addition, the approximately 200,000 tons of old tires from qualified specialist companies could be kept in the recycling circuit by environmentally friendly companies, which contributes to the protection of natural resources and reduces the waste volume.
As early as mid-June, the Alliance for the Future of Tires (AZuR) personally called on responsible federal and state politicians to finally take responsibility for the environment, climate and future generations, and to immediately ban the unregulated incineration of German export used tire waste in non-EU countries. to support abroad.
