Hankook Tire's 2023/24 ESG Report highlights tire recycling and carbon reduction
Hankook Tire & Technology has released its 2023/24 ESG Report, detailing the company’s sustainable management activities and long-term strategies. Now in its 15th edition, the report focuses on three main areas: Eco Value Chain, Sustainable Product, and Responsible Engagement, all under the company’s vision of "Innovation for a Sustainable Future."
Key achievements include a significant focus on carbon reduction. In August 2023, Hankook Tire became the first tire company in Korea to have its carbon reduction targets approved by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). The company aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 46.2% from manufacturing and 27% across its value chain by 2030, with the ultimate goal of reaching Net Zero by 2050.
In addition to carbon reduction, Hankook Tire is committed to biodiversity conservation and sustainable product development. The company engages in several eco-friendly projects, including the "Our Forest" initiative and the waste tire recycling project "re:move," which transforms tire production waste into upcycled products like shoes and longboards.
Hankook Tire also continues to invest in social responsibility initiatives, such as traffic safety education for underprivileged children and extensive employee volunteer programs. In 2023, the company’s volunteer efforts exceeded 10,000 hours.
The 2023/24 ESG Report is available on Hankook Tire’s website, providing easy access to detailed information on the company’s sustainability efforts.
