Hexpol AB has announced the acquisition of the remaining 30% of German recycled polymer specialist almaak, completing its full ownership of the company. The deal, valued at €36.7 million, follows Hexpol's initial purchase of a 70% stake in 2022 and is part of the company’s broader strategy to expand in thermoplastic compounding and high recycled-content polymers.

Based in Krefeld, Germany, almaak is a producer of high-quality recycled engineered polymer compounds, primarily serving the European automotive industry. With two manufacturing facilities and an annual output of around 60 kilotonnes of technical thermoplastics — including polyamides, polypropylene, and polycarbonate — the company reported €75 million in sales in 2021 and employs approximately 190 people.

The final transaction has been completed on April 9, 2025, and reflected in Hexpol’s second-quarter results. While the acquisition has a limited impact on the group's income statement and balance sheet, Hexpol views the move as a strategic step to strengthen its market position in Europe and its capabilities in sustainable materials.
