Liberty Tire Recycling's Amy Brackin named 2025 innovator of the year in sustainability
Tire Business has named Amy Brackin, senior vice president of sustainability at Liberty Tire Recycling L.L.C., as its 2025 Innovator of the Year in Sustainability, recognising her leadership in embedding sustainability as a core operating principle across the company.
In her role at Liberty Tire Recycling, Brackin has led the company's environmental reporting efforts, overseen compliance and permitting, and driven long-term commitments around zero waste, community impact and value creation. Her work has helped connect day-to-day operational decisions with Liberty's broader sustainability strategy, engaging drivers, plant workers and site teams across North America.
Under her guidance, Liberty has significantly improved its environmental performance. The company now achieves an 81 percent recycling rate, collected more than 215 million tyres annually, and has reduced greenhouse gas emissions despite continued business growth. These achievements have strengthened Liberty's position as a national leader in tyre recycling and circular material innovation.
Brackin's recognition also follows Liberty's 2025 Recircle Circular Economy Award, won in partnership with Walmart. The award recognised a closed-loop system in which end-of-life tyres collected from Walmart and Sam's Club service centres are recycled into consumer products sold in Walmart stores. Alongside this, Liberty continues to innovate in areas such as rubber-modified asphalt and moulded rubber goods.
The award highlights Brackin's role in advancing sustainability outcomes within the recycling sector and reinforcing the importance of leadership, data-driven decision-making and operational engagement in achieving meaningful environmental progress.
