NX Logistics Thailand and Bridgestone sign sustainability MOU on end-of-life tire management
Nippon Express Logistics Thailand has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Thai Bridgestone to cooperate on sustainability, corporate social responsibility and end-of-life tire management. The agreement, signed on June 17, formalizes collaboration between the two companies on proper used tire handling, resource circulation, road safety and nature conservation. The partnership will focus on managing end-of-life tires under a circular economy framework, including directing retreadable tires to retreading processes and sending other tires to suitable tire recycling streams. The companies said the initiative is intended to prevent improper reuse, improve safety, reduce environmental impact and support more efficient use of tire resources across the value chain.
Collaboration focuses on circular tire management
The MOU places particular emphasis on the safe and environmentally responsible management of used tires. Retreadable tires will be identified and directed toward retreading, while tires that are no longer suitable for reuse will be sent to appropriate recycling routes. This approach is intended to support tire life extension where possible and ensure that end-of-life tires are handled through controlled recovery systems rather than improper disposal or unsafe reuse.
Companies to study tire condition and removal causes
NX Logistics Thailand and Thai Bridgestone will also cooperate on the study and development of tire condition analysis. The work will include examining the causes of tire removal, with the goal of improving tire utilization efficiency, extending tire lifespan and increasing suitability for retreading. Better information about tire condition can support more accurate decisions on reuse, retreading and recycling, while helping operators reduce waste and improve fleet-related sustainability performance.
Road safety and conservation activities included
The partnership also includes joint corporate social responsibility activities beyond tire management. The companies plan to participate in the B-SAFE road safety awareness program in cooperation with the Saraburi Branch of the Department of Land Transport. They also plan to carry out nature and biodiversity conservation activities at Phu Khae Botanical Garden, connecting the agreement’s resource circulation goals with broader community and environmental initiatives.
Thai Bridgestone highlights need for cooperation
Akihito Ishii, Managing Director of Thai Bridgestone, said the agreement marks an important milestone in strengthening the companies’ business relationship around sustainability and social contribution. He noted that climate change and resource management require collaborative solutions, reflecting the role of partnerships in advancing circular economy practices and responsible tire management.
NX Logistics Thailand cites long-term social value
Masato Tanabe, President of NX Logistics Thailand, described the MOU as the beginning of a new chapter in the partnership with Thai Bridgestone. He said the agreement reflects a shared commitment to creating long-term value for society and contributing to local communities. The cooperation adds to wider industry efforts to improve tire use, retreading, recycling and resource recovery in line with sustainability objectives.
