Orion advances tire-derived conductive additives for wire and cable applications
Orion S.A. will showcase its high-performance conductive additive portfolio at the IWCS 2024 Cable & Connectivity Industry Forum on October 14 - 17, highlighting products like PRINTEX® kappa 60, designed for wire-and-cable applications. These additives extend cable service life by improving conductivity, surface smoothness, and UV protection.
Notably, Orion is developing two new circular additives derived from end-of-life tire pyrolysis oil, which match the performance of fossil-based carbon black used in cable jacketing. Additionally, Orion's acetylene-based PRINTEX kappa 100 BEADS, launched last year, offer high cleanliness and conductivity for high-voltage cables.
Orion is also building a new plant in La Porte, Texas, to produce acetylene-based conductive additives, expected to begin operations in Q2 2025, ensuring a consistent supply for the North American market.
