Polish tire recycling company Orzeł S.A. has been selected for EU funding under the European Funds for Eastern Poland program to automate and robotize its recycling operations. The project, approved under the Automation and Robotisation in SMEs measure, has a total budget of PLN 3.69 million, with PLN 2.59 million to be covered by EU support. Orzeł plans to use the funding to integrate enterprise processes and modernize its end-of-life tire and rubber waste recycling activities in line with Industry 4.0 standards. The investment is expected to reduce the company’s financial burden, support implementation of new technological solutions and improve efficiency and competitiveness in Poland’s circular economy and tire recycling sector.

Project selected under Eastern Poland program

Orzeł S.A. was selected for funding through the European Funds for Eastern Poland program, specifically under a measure focused on automation and robotization in small and medium-sized enterprises. The company said the project will support modernization of its tire recycling operations and strengthen its technological position.

EU funding covers most of the project budget

The approved project has a total value of PLN 3,691,800. EU funding is expected to cover PLN 2,590,560, significantly reducing Orzeł’s investment burden as the company prepares to finalize the funding agreement and begin implementation.

Automation to support Industry 4.0 transition

The project will integrate enterprise processes and introduce automation and robotization into recycling activities. For tire recycling operations, digital integration and automated systems can improve process control, production efficiency, material handling and operational consistency.

Orzeł’s modernization plans are aligned with Industry 4.0 standards, which typically involve greater use of data, automation, robotics and connected production systems. In the recycling sector, such upgrades can support better traceability, lower operating costs and more reliable processing of end-of-life tires and related rubber waste.

Company focuses on end-of-life tires and rubber waste

Orzeł S.A. operates in the tire recycling sector, processing end-of-life tires and related rubber waste. The company is pursuing modernization of its production and recycling processes to improve efficiency in its Polish operations.

The project comes as European tire recycling companies face growing demand for higher-quality recycled materials, stronger traceability and improved resource efficiency. Automation and robotization may help processors increase competitiveness while supporting circular economy goals.

Funding expected to improve competitiveness

The public support is expected to accelerate the implementation of innovative solutions in Orzeł’s facilities. By reducing manual processing requirements and improving enterprise integration, the project may help the company strengthen its position in Poland’s tire recycling and rubber recycling market.

The EU-backed investment highlights the increasing role of public funding in modernizing recycling infrastructure. For end-of-life tire processors, such support can help bridge the cost of technology upgrades while advancing circular economy objectives through more efficient recovery of rubber-derived materials.
