TNU said Royal Decree 712/2025 marked one of the main milestones of the year for Spain’s end-of-life tire sector. The regulation introduced new obligations for producers and collective systems related to traceability, control, transparency and compliance with targets for preparation for reuse, recycling and recovery. TNU said it strengthened its management systems during 2025 and carried out training, information and support activities for producers, managers and other operators to help ensure consistent implementation of the new framework.

In a statement included in the annual report, Timmy Smets, President of Recytyre’s Board of Directors, said the organization has a central role in ensuring that the collection, treatment and recycling of used tires takes place as efficiently as possible. He said Recytyre should continue evolving into a driver of a circular economy, where used tires are no longer seen only as waste but as raw materials that can be reused in higher-value applications. The report points to innovation, technological progress, digitalization, smarter logistics and collaboration with collectors and recycling companies as important factors for reducing costs and environmental impact.

CTS reported that its municipal transfer station collection network included 23 active collection sites as of the June 2026 update. The presentation also listed seven sites receiving hauler assignments during the week of the meeting, three sites ready for the next assignment round and 11 sites finalizing agreements or registration. The organization said enrollment and registration are handled through a portal used to track collected tires and tonnage and to support compensation for haulers and processors.

The companies plan to participate in the B-SAFE road safety awareness program in cooperation with the Saraburi Branch of the Department of Land Transport. They also plan to carry out nature and biodiversity conservation activities at Phu Khae Botanical Garden, connecting the agreement’s resource circulation goals with broader community and environmental initiatives.

The partnership comes at a time when India’s tyre recycling sector is under immense pressure, with labour shortages making manual sorting harder to sustain. Additionally, manual sorting is inherently inconsistent and limits the quality of output streams. Hidden contaminants such as batteries, TPMS sensors, metal rim fragments, and other embedded components damage shredders, causing unplanned shutdowns and creating fire hazards on the plant floor. The lack of digital traceability also leaves recyclers exposed to EPR compliance risks, including concerns about inaccurate or unverifiable credit claims.

The facility is also expected to generate approximately 21,000 tonnes annually of tire-derived oil through the company's pyrolysis process.

Goodyear, the exclusive tire supplier for NASCAR’s top racing series, manufactures more than 100,000 racing tires annually for the Cup Series, Xfinity Series, and Craftsman Truck Series alone. Because NASCAR tires are subjected to extreme speeds, heavy loads, and intense heat, their usable lifespan is relatively short. A single tire may only last around 100 miles under racing conditions, with some sets experiencing wear equivalent to tens of thousands of miles during a single race.

According to Aliapur, the French tire collection and recovery sector has developed an established operating model over the past two decades, collecting approximately 500,000 tonnes of end-of-life tires annually while exceeding targets for reuse and recycling.

This is equivalent to almost 31% of global Gross Domestic Product (GDP). In simple terms: for every €3 of economic value created, about €1 is lost through waste, inefficiency, premature disposal, energy losses, or asset deterioration.
