German Alliance for the Future of Tires (AZuR) reports thar each year, more than 500,000 metric tons of end-of-life tires are generated in Germany. Tires that can no longer be repaired, regrooved, or retreaded are ideally directed toward climate-friendly recovery pathways—preferably mechanical recycling, followed by chemical recycling where appropriate. The Latin American Rubber Technology Society (SLTC) has announced the 4th Latin American Tire Recycling Conference, to be held from November 12–14, 2025, at the Ágora Bogotá Convention Center. On 8 July 2025, the AZuR project group on retreading met at Marangoni’s facility in Henstedt-Ulzburg to advance strategies for strengthening tire retreading in Germany and across Europe. A main focus was preparation for the second AZuR Retreading Summit, scheduled for 16–17 September 2025 at the KRONE TrailerForum. The event will bring together key players in transport and logistics to promote the circular economy through retreaded tires, with a special Logistics Day for fleet operators.

The AZuR network had a strong showing at the 2025 Recircle Awards ceremony in Bologna, taking home seven awards. The international expert jury recognized AZuR partners Genan, Marangoni, and Italmatic for their innovative solutions in retreading and tire recycling. In addition, AZuR network coordinator Christina Guth received the Women’s Award for the Tyre Retreading Sector. “This award is a recognition of the commitment of all AZuR partners in recent years to advancing the circular tire economy,” said Guth at the awards ceremony.
