Trederra announced an exclusive supply agreement with Tyre Recycling Solutions (TRS) of Switzerland supporting the production of Trederra™ footwear outsoles made from end-of-life tires. TRS will supply Trederra with CT-50 rubber powder which is manufactured using the patented TRS Water Pulse® technology, a proprietary and highly specialized water-jet system that pulverizes tire tread into fine powder. This powder is derived from 100% end-of-life tires diverted from landfills and is free from steel and synthetic fibers.

In early January 2020, innovative Swiss tyre recycling company Tyre Recycling Solutions shared its success of implementing the ECR technology in the country. In its recent statement, TRS said: “After two years of technology validation led by the Swiss Institute for Material Science and Technology (EMPA) and involving two asphalt contractors and one world-leading supplier of mixing plant, TRS has started implementing the ECR technology in Switzerland. Five road sections were paved in 2020. Watch for more road paving in 2021, and not just in Switzerland!”

Synthos announces that its collaboration with Swiss company Tyre Recycling Solutions (TRS) is progressing according to plan as it obtained a minority stake in the successful scale-up company following the acquisition of Trinseo's synthetic rubber business at the end of 2021. Tyre Recycling Solutions SA. Switzerland (“TRS”) and Tengzhou SDS Star Smith Metal Products Co., Ltd. (滕州思达施密丝金属制品有限公司) (“SDS”) today concluded a joint venture agreement regarding Tyre Recycling Solutions China Jointco, Ltd., (“TRS China”) a consolidated subsidiary of TRS Switzerland. The venture will be established by TRS and SDS, under Chinese laws. The Parties intend to domicile JointCo in Tengzhou ( 滕 州 市 ) Economic Development Zone, Shandong Province, one of the nation’s clusters for the production of tyres. TRS shall be the majority owner with 67% (sixty- seven percent) of both the share capital and the voting rights. SDS SubCo shall own the balance of 33% (thirty-three percent).

ElastikoTM ECR technology has been developed by Asphalt Plus, LLC since the early 2000s as a part of an engineered application system called “Dry Process Rubber.” ElastikoTM ECR has been used to modify millions of tons of asphalt mix in the US, and these modified mixes have been used on thousands of miles of heavy and medium traffic roads. TRS builds solutions for the processing and recycling of scrap tires through the development and implementation of innovative technologies. The company is deploying the technologies globally in a series of regional processing facilities. ElastikoTM ECR will allow TRS to vertically integrate their licensed tire recycling business by providing recycled rubber products to the asphalt paving and roofing markets.
