Researchers from Sweden’s Chalmers University of Technology, in collaboration with international partners, have developed an innovative method to convert recovered carbon black (rCB)—a by-product of pyrolysis of end-of-life tires (ELTs)—into reduced graphene oxide (rGO). This sustainable approach offers a cost-effective alternative to conventional graphene production while supporting circular economy principles.

During the night of August 23–24, a fire broke out at Contec S.A.’s plant in Szczecin, Poland. The company has issued an official statement confirming the incident. According to the Management Board, ten employees were safely evacuated and no injuries were reported. Thanks to the swift intervention of emergency services, the fire was brought under control. The exhibition addresses the social, economic and environmental importance of the treatment and recycling of end-of-life tires. Used tires collected annually by TNU are claimed to 100% recycled. When recycled, the components of end-of-life tires: rubber, steel and textile fiber, become materials and energy resources.

When the tires NEX sells reach the end of their useful lives, the tire distributor NEX Tires has partnered with SIGNUS Ecovalor to manage the environment.

Using electronic identification chips in new tires has been found to be an efficient practice that tire producers can undertake. The verdict about its technical feasibility was delivered by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). However, the group also noted that the technology has to be standardized, and this means, the industry will have to elaborate on it, as well as new regulations will be required.
