Tire Industry Project launches emissions research initiative to address tire wear impacts
The European Rubber Journal (ERJ) reports that The Tire Industry Project (TIP) has announced an open call for projects (OCP) to advance scientific research into tire wear emissions and their environmental impacts. The initiative, launched on November 12, aims to foster innovative solutions for assessing and mitigating the effects of tire wear particles on air, water, soil, and sediment.
According to ERJ, TIP plans to provide financial support for projects focused on emissions measurement, particle characterization, distribution analysis, and the development of mitigation strategies. Interested researchers can apply through TIP’s website by January 17, 2025.
In December 2024 – the magazine says – TIP will host its first-ever conference on tire emissions research, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing among global experts. As a sustainability forum under the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, TIP’s initiative highlights the tire industry’s commitment to addressing environmental challenges.
