Foundation led by the U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) and the Tire Industry Association (TIA) introduces 15 board members to further drive tire circularity and sustainability efforts within the U.S. tire recycling supply chain.

WASHINGTON — November 14, 2024 — The Tire Recycling Foundation (TRF), a joint initiative led by the U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association (USTMA) and the Tire Industry Association (TIA), today announced its Board of Directors and Board President, Anne Forristall Luke, President and CEO of USTMA. The inaugural Board consists of 15 global industry leaders with deep knowledge and expertise in the manufacturing, recycling and transportation industries. This diverse group will help steer the Foundation’s mission to drive innovation in tire reuse markets, secure funding for critical projects, allocate grants for research, education, intervention and demonstration projects and enhance the sustainability of the tire recycling supply chain.

“Our newly appointed Board of Directors brings a wealth of experience and leadership in the tire recycling and manufacturing sectors, uniquely positioning the Foundation to achieve critical milestones in the tire recycling and reclamation markets,” said Anne Forristall Luke, incoming TRF Board President and president and CEO of USTMA. “Although we have made significant progress, with almost 80% of end-of-life tires currently consumed by end-use markets, we are committed to achieving 100% circularity. The Board’s collective expertise and leadership experience will play a vital role in developing industry-wide solutions to expand the market for tire recycling and enhance sustainable end-of-life tire management.” A primary focus for the Board is to accelerate the adoption of emerging end-of-life tire market technologies like rubber-modified asphalt (RMA), which provides enhanced performance, economic efficiency and environmental sustainability.

In 2025, the new Board aims to raise $300,000 to support the Foundation’s initiatives, with a longer-term goal of securing $2-3 million in 2026. These funds will be used to accelerate research, education and demonstration projects focused on innovative tire recycling solutions that benefit both industry and the environment.

The Tire Recycling Foundation is committed to building partnerships and fostering innovation across the tire recycling supply chain, working closely with key stakeholders to enhance sustainable end-of-life tire management practices.
