Toyoda Gosei expands rubber recycling capacity to advance decarbonization goals
Toyoda Gosei Co., Ltd. has announced a doubling of its rubber recycling capacity at the Morimachi Plant in Japan, supporting the company's commitment to decarbonization and a recycling-driven society. Building on its initial recycling line launched in FY2021, Toyoda Gosei’s new second line will bring total recycling capacity to 1,200 tons annually by FY2025. Utilizing advanced proprietary devulcanization technology, the expanded facility will increase the share of recycled material in new rubber products from a few percent to as much as 20 percent, allowing almost all production waste from items like weatherstrips to be recycled.
The expanded recycling line will further enhance the quality of recycled rubber, enabling its use in a broader range of automotive products. In addition to synthetic rubber recycling, Toyoda Gosei is advancing methods for recycling natural rubber and exploring systems to reclaim rubber from end-of-life vehicles. Collaborating with automakers, Toyoda Gosei aims to establish a leading role in global rubber recycling initiatives.
