Tyre Stewardship Australia invites mining company professionals to attend the TSA National Off-the-Road (OTR) Mining Tyre & Conveyor Belt Sustainability Forum, to be held on Wednesday, 22 October, as part of the IMARC conference and exhibition in Sydney.

This forum will explore the full life cycle management of OTR tyres and conveyor belts, highlighting the challenges and emerging opportunities to advance sustainability and accelerate the transition toward a circular economy within the mining sector.

Australia generates an estimated 245,000 tonnes of waste each year from OTR tyres, conveyor belts, and tracks. The mining industry accounts for over 80% of this total, yet currently recovers less than 5%, with most materials being stockpiled or buried.

Building on TSA’s groundbreaking 2023 report findings, Tipping the Balance - Australia’s first comprehensive study of OTR tyre and conveyor waste - the forum continues a national dialogue launched through six previous mining forums in Perth and Sydney. These earlier sessions brought together leading mining companies, policymakers, technology innovators, and tyre industry professionals.

Forum highlights include:

  • Cutting-edge research on current and emerging recovery technologies.
  • Innovative recycling and repair solutions for end-of-life OTR tyres and belts.
  • Insights from local and international experts.
  • Networking opportunities with mining peers and leaders in tyre and conveyor belt technologies.

Join the event to network with industry leaders, explore transformative solutions, and help shape the future of sustainable materials management in Australian mining.
