Nienburg District, Lower Saxony (Germany) – 11 February 2026 – The State of Lower Saxony (Niedersachsen) has approved €6.05 million in investment support for Waste2Value GmbH to establish a new operating site in the Nienburg district and build a modular thermolysis (chemical recycling) plant for hard-to-recycle plastic waste. The funding is granted under the Joint Task “Improvement of Regional Economic Structures” (GRW) programme.

The project totals €20.1 million in investment and is expected to create 27 new permanent jobs. Lower Saxony’s Minister for Economic Affairs, Transport and Building, Grant Hendrik Tonne, presented the funding notice to Waste2Value Managing Director Carsten Bruns.

Waste2Value (founded 2021) focuses on recovering non-hazardous waste streams, with the new facility targeting mixed plastics and composite materials that are difficult to recycle mechanically. The plant concept is designed for stepwise growth: Phase 1 foresees one reactor with a throughput of 1,000 kg/hour, while the site is engineered for later expansion to 2,999 kg/hour, including planned operation of three reactors in parallel in the medium term.

The Ministry highlighted the project’s expected contribution to resource conservation, CO₂ reduction, and regional employment. Waste2Value stated that the grant enables the company to enter the operational implementation phase and further develop its chemical recycling approach while rapidly scaling capacity.
