British Plastics Federation recently released an article about Waverly Carbon's sustainable recovered carbon black (rCB) and how it could be used in manufacturing process. The article also covers Waverly Carbon's collaboration with its official UK distributors Lawrence Industries Ltd.

The widespread use of virgin carbon black, derived from finite fossil fuel resources, poses environmental challenges due to its production process, high energy consumption, and associated emissions. To address these issues, Waverly Carbon has introduced Recovered Carbon Black (rCB), an eco-friendly alternative sourced from end-of-life tires. This circular economy approach not only repurposes the 1.5 billion discarded tires annually but also reduces CO2 emissions, contributing to the UK plastic tax threshold.

Waverly Carbon's rCB is produced at lower temperatures through pyrolysis, minimizing environmental impact and offering regulatory benefits by destroying PAHs during the manufacturing process.

Waverly Carbon, the UK’s only manufacturer of recovered carbon black, has developed rCB in pelleted form which closely matches the characteristics of pelleted virgin carbon black. Lawrence Industries, the official UK distributor for Waverly Carbon, provides more information on rCB on its website.
