Bangkok, Thailand – 4 September 2026 – Weibold presented its latest perspective on the evolving role of tire pyrolysis oil (TPO) at Recovered Carbon Black Conference Asia 2026 in Bangkok.

In the presentation, “Turning TPO into a Higher-Value, Certifiable Feedstock,” Weibold consultant Franklin Raj discussed how TPO producers can move beyond traditional industrial-fuel markets and develop higher-value downstream pathways.

Weibold highlighted that TPO should increasingly be regarded as an equal co-product to recovered carbon black, with project economics depending on the successful commercialization of both output streams.

The presentation focused on five key value drivers: downstream application, upgrading, compliance, pricing and market geography. A central message was that higher TPO value does not come from certification alone. Technical compatibility, regulatory eligibility, chain-of-custody evidence and a viable downstream market must work together.

Weibold also highlighted the growing importance of the Asia-Pacific region, which currently accounts for most global TPO production. While Europe remains an important premium market, selective higher-value opportunities are also emerging in APAC through carbon black applications, marine fuels, refinery integration and future chemical recycling pathways.

Conclusion: TPO is moving from a low-margin commodity toward a more strategic circular feedstock — but premiums will remain buyer-, pathway-, and region-specific.
