Horsham Rural City Council (HRCC) in Australia reports intensified efforts to combat illegal tyre dumping following a rise in discarded tyres across the region. Recently, 21 illegally dumped tyres were removed, particularly in Horsham North, where evidence suggests they were used for burnouts.

In response, increased surveillance has been implemented in affected areas, and residents are encouraged to report suspicious activities. Those found guilty of illegal dumping could face fines of up to $5,928.

HRCC is also working with local tyre businesses to promote responsible disposal practices and prevent unlawful dumping due to disposal costs.

Illegal tyre dumping poses significant environmental and public safety risks, releasing harmful chemicals into the soil and waterways as tyres degrade. Additionally, discarded tyres present a fire hazard, as they are highly flammable and difficult to extinguish.
