Bridgestone to close Tennessee tire plant, cut jobs in U.S. and Latin America
Bridgestone Americas has announced plans to shut down its LaVergne, Tennessee, Truck and Bus Radial Tire Plant by July 31, 2025, as part of its broader strategy to optimize operations and reduce costs. The closure will impact approximately 700 employees.
The decision is part of Bridgestone's long-term effort to strengthen its business footprint while maintaining its presence in the U.S. market. The company has invested in modernizing other facilities, such as its plants in Warren County, Tennessee, and Aiken County, South Carolina.
In addition to the LaVergne closure, Bridgestone will implement capacity and workforce reductions at its agricultural tire plant in Des Moines, Iowa, and cut corporate, sales, and operations staff across the U.S. Similar restructuring efforts will take place in Argentina and Brazil, affecting production and workforce levels.
Bridgestone stated that these measures align with its "Mid Term Business Plan (2024-2026)" and are part of a broader initiative to enhance efficiency and competitiveness in a challenging business environment.
