Enviro notified of legal action over exclusivity of European pyrolysis technology license
Scandinavian Enviro Systems AB has received notice from Infiniteria Europe Sàrl that Infiniteria intends to initiate a declaratory action against the company before the Swedish Patent and Market Court.
The action concerns the exclusivity of Infiniteria’s license to Enviro’s patented pyrolysis technology for tire recycling in Europe.
Infiniteria is asking the court to declare that its exclusive license to the technology remains in force. Enviro said it disputes Infiniteria’s claims in their entirety.
Dispute concerns license termination
According to Enviro, Infiniteria’s position is that the exclusive license to the patents is protected as a right in rem and that Enviro’s termination of the license agreement on March 20, 2026, would be without effect.
Infiniteria is also seeking compensation for legal costs together with interest.
Enviro said its position is that the license agreement was terminated in accordance with applicable legislation within the framework of the company’s ongoing reorganization.
Enviro says exclusivity ends after notice period
Enviro maintains that the exclusivity of the license ends when the termination takes effect at the expiry of the notice period on June 20, 2026.
The company said that after that date it is free to use its patented pyrolysis technology and intends to defend its right to dispose of the technology and develop and operate pyrolysis plants in Europe.
Enviro said it will file its statement of defense with the Patent and Market Court in accordance with the court’s instructions.
Company evaluates legal options
Enviro said it will evaluate all available legal measures, including potential claims for damages and costs related to the proceedings.
The company referred to its March 20, 2026, press release for further information about the termination of the license agreement.
Scandinavian Enviro Systems develops patented technology for recovering valuable raw materials from end-of-life products, including tires. Its tire recycling technology is based on pyrolysis and can produce recovered carbon black and other tire-derived materials.
The company said that producing new tires with carbon black recovered through its technology can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by up to 93% compared with virgin carbon black.
Enviro is headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden, and is listed on Nasdaq First North Growth Market.
