Grupo Soledad has obtained two Environmental Product Declarations certified by AENOR under the GlobalEPD program for recycled rubber solutions developed by its Industrial Division. The declarations cover rubber granulate produced by Industrias del Neumático and an elastomeric mat manufactured by Caucho Industrial Verdú for resilient railway infrastructure applications. The certifications provide independently verified environmental information based on product lifecycle assessment and are intended to improve transparency for recycled materials derived from end-of-life tires. According to Grupo Soledad, the declarations support wider use of recycled rubber in sports facilities, construction, civil engineering and infrastructure by giving architects, engineers, contractors and public authorities quantified environmental data that can be used in procurement and sustainability assessments.

Two recycled rubber products receive GlobalEPD certification

The first Environmental Product Declaration covers rubber granulate manufactured by Industrias del Neumático at its plant in Aspe, Alicante. The material is produced entirely from end-of-life tires and is used in applications including sports surfaces, safety flooring, construction, civil engineering, bituminous mixtures and acoustic absorption solutions.

The second declaration covers an elastomeric mat produced by Caucho Industrial Verdú at its Alcoy facility. The product forms part of the company’s range of resilient elements for railway infrastructure and is designed to reduce impact noise and vibration in rail and building applications.

Declarations follow EN ISO 14025 and EN 15804

The AENOR certifications are Type III Environmental Product Declarations developed in accordance with EN ISO 14025 and EN 15804. These standards provide a framework for presenting objective and quantified information about a product’s environmental impacts over its lifecycle.

Unlike generic sustainability claims, Environmental Product Declarations provide standardized data that can be compared and incorporated into building, infrastructure and procurement assessments.

Rubber granulate made entirely from end-of-life tires

Grupo Soledad said the granulate produced by Industrias del Neumático is made from 100% end-of-life tire material. Recycling the rubber into granulate allows it to re-enter the market as a secondary raw material rather than remaining within the waste management system.

The material can be used across several established tire recycling markets, including sports equipment, playground and safety surfacing, civil engineering, rubberized asphalt and acoustic applications.

Railway product targets noise and vibration reduction

Caucho Industrial Verdú develops technical rubber products for infrastructure applications, including resilient components used in railway systems. The elastomeric mat covered by the Environmental Product Declaration is intended for technically demanding applications where impact noise and vibration need to be controlled.

The product demonstrates how recovered rubber can move beyond basic material recycling and be incorporated into engineered products with specific performance requirements.

Grupo Soledad emphasizes quality and environmental transparency

Grupo Soledad General Director Joaquín Pérez Martínez said the certifications demonstrate that recycling alone is not sufficient and that recovered materials also need quality, technical transparency and reliable environmental information if they are to return to the market with full confidence.

The company views the declarations as another step in transforming materials recovered from end-of-life tires into higher-value industrial products rather than limiting tire recycling to basic material recovery.

EPDs can support green public procurement

The publication of the two declarations in AENOR’s register gives contractors, architects, engineers, project designers and public authorities access to quantified environmental information for both products. This can simplify the inclusion of recycled tire materials in projects with defined environmental performance criteria.

Grupo Soledad said the information is particularly relevant for Green Public Procurement and for construction projects applying sustainability certification systems such as LEED and BREEAM.

Certified data may facilitate lower-carbon construction

Lifecycle-based environmental information can help project teams assess the contribution of recycled materials to overall construction impacts. By providing verified product data, the declarations allow users to document the environmental performance of recycled rubber solutions more precisely.

This can be especially relevant where infrastructure projects seek to reduce embodied carbon, increase recycled content or demonstrate compliance with environmental procurement requirements.
