On April 25, Brussels and Beijing have agreed on a joint roadmap for greater collaboration on the vital issue. The new blueprint defines the actions that both the EU and China will take to implement under the EU-China Memorandum of Understanding on the circular economy. The specific actions outlined in the roadmap focus on plastics, including the ongoing negotiations for a global plastics treaty, battery value chains and remanufacturing.

IMPEL is an international non-profit association comprising environmental authorities from EU Member States, acceding and candidate countries, EEA and EFTA countries, and potential European Community members. The association is registered in Belgium and its legal seat is in Brussels, Belgium. IMPEL was set up in 1992 as an informal Network of European regulators and authorities concerned with the implementation and enforcement of environmental law. The Network’s objective is to create the necessary impetus in the European Community to make progress on ensuring a more effective application of environmental legislation. Its aim is to promote professional collaboration, information exchange, and best practices among environmental regulators, with the goal of ensuring the effective implementation and enforcement of European environmental law.

End-of-life tires (ELT) are a valuable resource for the circular economy. Of course, natural rubber is important, but it only makes up roughly a fifth of a passenger vehicle's tire. Synthetic polymers, steel, and textiles all play a role in the process.

The next edition of The Tire Cologne to take place in June 2024. The upcoming event will emphasize the importance of the circular economy in the tire industry. With the aim of showcasing companies involved in tire retreading and recycling, a dedicated Circular Economy themed area will be located prominently in Hall 7 at THE TIRE COLOGNE. According to Muscat Daily magazine, to support the circular economy, the Muscat and Oman Environment Authority (EA) has suspended issuing licenses for the export of end-of-life tires. Dr. Mohammad Majid al Kasbi, Director of the Department of Chemical Materials at the EA, revealed to Muscat Daily that the authority has halted issuing licenses for exporting scrap tires from both large and small vehicles beginning on April 9 for a six-month term that may be extended.

Indian Tyre Technical Advisory Committee (ITTAC), the technical organization representing the Indian Tyre Industry, and Automobile Tyre Manufacturers Association (ATMA) have taken the initiative to organize a day long “invite-only” Conference on Circular Economy on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at Hotel Le Meridien, Janpath, New Delhi. All concerned stakeholders in the eco-system of Tyre Industry, which are integral part of the Circular Economy, viz. senior Government officials & Policy makers, representatives from the Tyre Industry, material recovery, reclaim, retreading and allied sectors have been invited to participate in the Conference and contribute in the deliberations.

Pyrolysis, an advanced chemical recycling route for End-of-Life Tires (ELT), is experiencing a boom in the last few years. As seen objectively, there is no one best design and/or process mode. Different options can be considered depending on the local circumstances and/or targeted product yields and qualities. While only a small portion of global ELT arisings (31 million tons per year) are currently finding their way to thermochemical decomposition, recent developments are showing strong signs of promising opportunities.
