Aliapur has officially opened a large-scale call for tenders as it prepares to renew its operational framework for 2027 and beyond—marking a significant development in Europe’s tire recycling and circular economy landscape. The tender covers the management of approximately 450,000 tonnes of end-of-life tires (ELTs) annually over a four-year period, starting January 1, 2027. This move is expected to support supply chains and partnerships across the tire recycling sector in France and wider Europe.

The European Commission’s December 2025 Environment Omnibus package is not a complete solution for the recycling industry, but it is an important signal of direction. For companies active in end-of-life tire (ELT) recycling, plastic recycling, pyrolysis, recovered carbon black (rCB), and pyrolysis oil upgrading, the package is best understood as a first-step competitiveness reform: it promises faster procedures, lower administrative burden, and a clearer policy bridge toward the Circular Economy Act expected in 2026.

Valorpneu has introduced Ecovalor fees for retreaded tires placed on the Portuguese market, following new legislation that changes how environmental charges are applied under the country’s waste management framework. The shift stems from Portaria n.º 150/2024/1, published in April 2024, which requires ecofees to be differentiated across waste systems and formally classifies retreaded tires as products newly placed on the market. As a result, they are now subject to Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) fees.

According to research commissioned by Tyre Stewardship Australia (TSA), illegal tyre dumping cost local governments an estimated $6.5 million in 2022–23 alone. Approximately 300,000 tyres were retrieved from roadsides and bushland at an average cost of $22 per tyre—nearly triple the typical $7.60 disposal fee paid by consumers at retail outlets.

The Saskatoon-based tire recycling company confirmed it accepts the payment as full and final resolution of its claims. According to the province, Shercom “acknowledges that it will have no further claims related to any matters raised in the lawsuit.” Additional settlement details remain confidential.
