Hankook Tire & Technology has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Rotoboost, a Finnish company specializing in thermocatalytic methane decomposition, to jointly develop low-carbon carbon materials for use in tires. The agreement was formalized on 20 November at Rotoboost’s China office in Shanghai.

Pyrum Innovations AG and SUAS Ecology s.r.o. have a Shareholder agreement for the joint venture „SUAS reTIRE s.r.o.“ in the Czech Republic. Under the terms of the agreement, Pyrum is taking a 49 % stake in the equity of the new joint venture, which will develop, build and operate a state-of-the-art recycling plant in the Czech Republic provides. By successfully securing its equity share of around € 8.6 million, Pyrum has taken an important step towards full project financing. Another major milestone is the Conclusion of a long-term oil purchase agreement over ten years for the pyrolysis oil produced at the future plant – a strong signal of confidence in Pyrum’s technology and the future viability of the project.

Perpetuus Advanced Materials has announced the development of a graphene-based masterbatch designed to replace 6PPD in tire and rubber formulations. According to the company, the new material eliminates the formation of 6PPD-quinone (6PPD-Q), a toxic by-product linked to ecological impacts, particularly in salmon-bearing waterways in the Pacific Northwest.

Pyrum Innovations AG announced that its partner, Thermo Lysi SA, has received funding approval from the European Innovation Fund (EIF), securing €29.4 million for their joint tire recycling project in Greece. The facility, which will process around 45,000 tonnes of end-of-life tires annually, is set to become one of Europe’s largest and most advanced pyrolysis plants. Built on Pyrum’s patented thermolysis technology, the project represents a total investment of approximately €100 million, with Pyrum planning to acquire at least a 10% equity stake in the project company.

While Continental's share of renewable and recycled materials in tire production averaged 26 percent in 2024, the company's goal is to increase this figure to at least 40 percent within the next five years.

Pyrum Innovations AG has scheduled the official groundbreaking ceremony for its new tire recycling plant in Perl-Besch, Germany, for November 14, 2025. The facility, which will be the company's largest to date, is designed to process more than 22,000 tons of end-of-life tires annually and will be fully owned and operated by Pyrum. Once operational, the plant will more than double the company's total recycling capacity.
