Supercars has partnered with Entyr, an Australian specialist in recycling end-of-life tyres by turning them into high-quality raw materials, to convert end-of-life Dunlop racing tyres into high-quality raw materials used to replace virgin resources in manufacturing. Following the Boost Mobile Gold Coast 500 in October, Entyr took delivery of over 400 Dunlop Sport Maxx tyres to be converted using Entyr’s patented thermal processing.

A new player in the tire recycling market, the company Retyre, offers a fresh approach to material recovery. According to the article by Tyre and Rubber Recycling magazine, while water jetting technology is not a novelty, Retyre's process stands out for its compact, efficient, and portable design, fitting into a 20ft container. Although the intricate details of the technology are not fully disclosed, a preview of the pre-production unit by Tyre and Rubber Recycling substantiates Retyre's claims. The output, known as ActivR™, comprises activated rubber and clean steel, with textile removal in the classifier process.

Pyrum Innovations AG (Pyrum) – a pioneering company that sustainably recycles used tires with its globally patented, unique pyrolysis technology – has once again demonstrated the sustainability of its business model proven. A scientific study by the Fraunhofer Institute recently published in the renowned journal “Resources, Conservation and Recycling” shows that Pyrum's pyrolysis process offers significant CO2 savings compared to conventional methods.

During the recent 2023 Recircle Awards ceremony on the 16th of November 2023, 20 winners were announced. According to the latest Pyrum Innovations AG’s (Pyrum) press release, Pyrum and BASF Antwerpen NV have signed a new cooperation agreement on November 15, 2023. This provides for a conditional loan of initially EUR 25 million, available in tranches, which is intended to serve as start-up financing for the implementation of Pyrum Innovations AG's specific project pipeline by 2026. The subject of the agreement is the planning, project planning and construction of at least three new plants with an annual capacity of 20,000 tons of used tires each using the funds made available. Pyrum plans to use the funds in particular for the construction of the announced plant in Saarland as well as the equity contribution and co-financing of up to five of the projects announced in recent months with financially strong partners.

Global leading tire company Hankook Tire & Technology (Hankook Tire) hosted the official kick-off meeting for the ’Tire-to-Tire Circular Economy Model’ consortium on November 1 in Daejeon, South Korea. Held at the Hankook Technodome, the event marked the start of the consortium’s efforts to create the business model for the circular economy of end-of-life tires in Korea.

The CEOs of 10 leading tire manufacturers gathered to confirm a two-year Tire Industry Project (TIP) workplan focused on research and action for sustainability in the tire lifecycle, including tire-emission research and end-of-life tire management.
