LD Carbon, a Seoul-based producer of recovered carbon black (rCB), has closed a $28 million Series C funding round led by Toyota's growth fund, Woven Capital, with participation by Meritz Securities, Investwith, Industrial Bank of Korea, Hyundai Motor Group Zer01ne, Elohim Partners and New Main Capital. LD Carbon will use the investment to scale operations to recycle end-of-life tires and materials from end-of-life vehicles into rCB and tire pyrolysis oil (TPO) through pyrolysis, which can be used to create new automotive parts and tires. The company says the investment will advance its mission of accelerating the circular economy while delivering material cost and carbon savings to global customers.

SIGNUS first registered its carbon footprint with the Spanish Climate Change Office in 2017, becoming the first verified and certified collective management system to do so, with certification by AENOR. This project was launched with the aim of seeking ways to improve the environmental management of end-of-life tires. This involves not only finding more applications for the resulting byproducts but also engaging all stakeholders involved in the various management operations to advance their energy efficiency.

Orion S.A., a global specialty chemicals producer, is installing multiple tire pyrolysis oil tanks at its plant in Jaslo, Poland – the company’s latest move toward boosting production of circular carbon black. The tanks will serve as reception points for TPO delivered to the plant. The TPO will be pumped from the tanks to furnace black reactors, which transform the oil into circular carbon black.

Since Swedish Tyre Recycling took over tyre recycling in Sweden on 1 January 2023, much has happened. New facilities have been built, IT systems for the collection of worn-out tyres have been implemented, showrooms have been established, artistic collaborations have been developed, and a completely new focus on creating value has begun to be realised. The Tire and Rubber Association of Canada (TRAC) announces its new Board of Directors following its Annual General Meeting of members held on June 6, 2024. At that meeting, the members elected two new directors: Michelle Black of Michelin North America (Canada) Inc. and Christine Baker of Cabot Corporation. Ms. Black serves as Corporate Counsel/Strategic Business Advisor at Michelin. Previously she worked at Stewart McKelvey. She received her BSc in Psychology from Nipissing University, her MSc in Anatomy and Neurobiology/Neuroscience and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from Dalhousie University.
