Cabot Corporation announced that it has enhanced its manufacturing capabilities in North America for circular reinforcing carbons powered by its EVOLVE® Sustainable Solutions technology platform. With this milestone, Cabot's site in Ville Platte, Louisiana, USA joins Mauá, Brazil and Valasske Mezirici (Valmez), Czech Republic as manufacturing locations with demonstrated circular reinforcing carbons production capability. The circular reinforcing carbons are made using tire pyrolysis oil (TPO) derived from end-of-life tires that leverage an International Sustainability & Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS mass balance approach. Furthermore, Cabot has expanded its global network of ISCC PLUS certified sites to 14 facilities, enhancing the supply of certified sustainable solutions while advancing the company’s commitment to a circular, sustainable economy.

Eco Infinic announced that the second-phase expansion of its Chon Buri, Thailand facility will be completed by the end of 2025. Upon completion, the plant’s capacity to process end-of-life tires will increase to 100,000 metric tons per year, while annual production capacity of recovered carbon black (rCB) and tire pyrolysis oil (TPO) will reach 30,000 metric tons and 35,000 metric tons, respectively, significantly expanding the company’s overall production scale.

ASTM International’s recovered carbon black (rCB) committee (D36) is advancing work on a new standard that could greatly improve production process monitoring and productivity for rCB manufacturers. The proposed method, known as WK91069, is being developed within the committee’s recovered carbon black subcommittee (D36.10). According to ASTM member Pieter ter Haar, director of rCB at Circtec, the standard addresses one of the industry’s key challenges: long testing times.

In a bid to effectively execute impending new projects, privately held New Energy re-organises itself in three units, each geared to specific aspects of establishing successful new facilities in Europe and beyond. Newly incorporated NE-TECH INDUSTRIES will focus on continued R&D, the engineering, manufacture, installation, and maintenance of equipment suites licensed to customers and partners, as well as supplying and installing turnkey facilities. Based on established relations with major European off-takers, the unit NE-TECH TRADE will help smoothly secure long-term supply contracts for product output of the new facilities. Existing operations will be operated under the name New Energy Recycling Kft., while the new plant under construction in Karcag, Hungary, will operate as RE-POL Kft.. The consortium will be known as NE-TECH GROUP. NE-TECH here acts solely as a turnkey technology supplier, not as an operator or shareholder of the project.

During the night of August 23–24, a fire broke out at Contec S.A.’s plant in Szczecin, Poland. The company has issued an official statement confirming the incident. According to the Management Board, ten employees were safely evacuated and no injuries were reported. Thanks to the swift intervention of emergency services, the fire was brought under control. However, damages are significant, and production will not resume in the near future.
