Orion S.A., a global specialty chemicals producer, is installing multiple tire pyrolysis oil tanks at its plant in Jaslo, Poland – the company’s latest move toward boosting production of circular carbon black. The tanks will serve as reception points for TPO delivered to the plant. The TPO will be pumped from the tanks to furnace black reactors, which transform the oil into circular carbon black.

Pyrum Innovations AG (Pyrum) and Thermo Lysi SA have signed an engineering contract in the amount of EUR 2.2 million. The contract marks an important milestone for the company, as it is the first engineering contract to be signed after a plant has been granted a construction permit. Pyrum will now begin the detailed engineering of the planned plant, which is expected to take six months.

Wastefront AS recently announced the appointment of new CEO, Vianney Valès – a former top executive in Oil & Gas in companies such as Shell and Galp Energia. Valès, who was first introduced to Wastefront by its liquid offtaker Vitol in 2019, was initially engaged with the Norwegian company in his former position as CEO of Devaltec LLC, a project developer and solutions provider in new and sustainable energies.

The Renewable Transport Fuel Association of the UK (RTFA) reports that its thirteen members and Tyre Recovery Association (TRA) of the UK have built a collaboration to promote greater uptake of pyrolysis, an advanced chemical recycling technology. To achieve this, they are funding a consultancy to contribute to the Environment Agency’s review of recovery options for end-of-life tires. Specifically, the group is seeking to demonstrate that pyrolysis is a sufficiently thorough and environmentally-safe process, and that the products should be classified as resources, not waste.

Pyrum Innovations AG (Pyrum), a pioneer in the sustainable recycling of end-of-life tires (ELT) based on its patented pyrolysis technology, is closing material cycles together with BASF SE and Mercedes-Benz AG. Enviro (Scandinavian Enviro Systems) is to begin delivering recovered pyrolysis oil as part of the order from Preem that was announced in November of last year. Preem will use the oil as a raw material for production tests and the order value is estimated at approximately MSEK 2. Through production testing, Preem will determine how suitable the oil is for the production of different biofuels. These tests will take place at Preem’s refinery in Lysekil, which has already been granted a permit to conduct production tests of pyrolysis oil. This oil will be produced at Enviro’s plant in Åsensbruk where Enviro extracts for example oil from end-of-life vehicle tires using its proprietary and patented recycling technology.

Pyrum Innovations AG, a leading player in tire pyrolysis, has successfully installed two pyrolysis reactors for its production lines 2 and 3 at its main plant in Dillingen/Saar. This marks a significant milestone in the expansion of the plant and represents the first step towards increasing the recycling capacity of the facility. The CEO of Pyrum Innovations, Pascal Klein, stated that despite various challenges, such as supply chain disruptions, the chip shortage, and the impact of COVID-19, the company expects to complete the expansion on schedule.
