With just one week remaining, Smithers, the organizer of Recovered Carbon Black Asia 2025 are issuing a final call for registration. The premier hybrid conference and exhibition for the recovered carbon black (rCB) and tire pyrolysis industry will take place on 4–5 September 2025 in Bangkok, Thailand, and online.

Andreas Kyriakos, Senior Partner at Weibold, will present at the online conference on Wednesday, September 9 2020, at 16:20 CET. The subject of the 20 minute talk is "Pyrolysis Oils, Markets Defined By Changing Regulations”. His talk will cover the effects of major global market and regulatory shifts on the sale of oils derived from tire pyrolysis. The influences of factors like Covid19, IMO 2020 and low oil prices will be covered. A senior consultant at Weibold, Mr. Kyriakos supports associations, investors and start-ups in tire recycling projects. With emphasis on pyrolysis projects in recent years, his work includes big data analysis, LCAs and circularity reports, as well as feasibility studies, technology evaluations and business modeling.

This article deals with the question of whether the scientific recommendations for the development of new modification methods for upgrading recovered Carbon Black (rCB) derived from end-of-life tire (ELT) pyrolysis have not already been (partially) overtaken by industrial practice. This question does not mean that the extensive research on rCB is unnecessary. Quite the contrary! Past and new research results were and are of priceless value for the development of new ASTM approved characterization methods to be able to predict rCB performance in rubber applications in a practical and science-based manner.

About the Summit Carbon Black (CB) demand is forecasted to increase, and addressing this increase will be very challenging as the war in Ukraine has already caused a big gap in the supply of virgin carbon black. Some of the experts from this field say that shortage of supply of CB goes up to 40% compared to the years before the war. The main focus of this summit will be to address these issues. With key topics such as CB market overview, improving sustainability in the industry, achieving superiority in supply chain and others we will try to give answers to these pressing issues. Focus will be also on improving standardisation in recovered CB as well as problems with calculating life cycle of tires.
