Scandinavian Enviro Systems (Enviro) and the French tire manufacturer Michelin have initiated a collaboration following successful tests, which means that Enviro will recycle valuable raw materials such as carbon black and oil from Michelin's used racing tires. The recycled carbon black can then be reused by Michelin to produce new racing and other tires. "Racing tires represent the pinnacle of tire technology, and for Enviro to be involved in providing a circular solution for the racing tires of the world's largest tire manufacturer is a mark of quality for what our technology can achieve," says Fredrik Emilson, CEO of Enviro.

Scandinavian Enviro Systems (Enviro) – a Swedish tire pyrolysis operator and equipment supplier – will publish the notification of the Extraordinary General Meeting that is to be held to approve the three definitive agreements that form the basis of the strategic partnership with Michelin. The notification contains more detailed information on the agreements regarding, for example, guarantee commitments and Michelin’s right to use Enviro’s pyrolysis technology, which Enviro wants to bring to the attention of shareholders and the capital market through the press release.

Scandinavian Enviro Systems (Enviro) – a Swedish tyre pyrolysis operator and technology supplier – reports that Michelin, the principal owner of Enviro, unveiled tyres with a high proportion of environmentally sustainable materials that have been approved for use on ordinary road vehicles. These include a tyre for buses and a tyre for cars, where the car tyre contains recovered carbon black from Enviro, among other materials.

Michelin reports it has successfully validated the use of Carbios’ enzymatic recycling technology for PET plastic waste in its tires. Carbios confirms the potential of its recycled PET to address all types of applications – from bottles to clothing fibers and now technical fibers. The validation of Carbios’ technology in Michelin’s tests, marks a new step towards 100% sustainable tires. PET (PolyEthylene Terephthalate) is a petroleum-based plastic wherein the monomers used, ethylene glycol and terephthalic acid, come from the transformation of petroleum. PET is the raw material for one of the main textile fibers used in tire reinforcements.

Michelin is inviting everyone interested in tire recycling and sustainability to take part in the first Workshop of the European BlackCycle project! The AXELERA cluster is a partner of the BlackCycle project, coordinated by Michelin, the objective of which is to create, develop and optimize a complete value chain for recycling end-of-life tires, in the form of material first to reduce the impact on the environment. This free workshop will be an opportunity to present the state of progress of the project but also to discuss with the stakeholders interested and involved in the creation of this value chain. The workshop will be held on November 22, 2021 at MICHELIN CAMPUS RDI in Cebazat, France. To attend the workshop, make sure to register before November 12.

With a wish to reduce tire abrasion and deepen knowledge in this field, Michelin has developed a system for analyzing small, emitted particles, "SAMPLE”. This captures, sorts, counts and characterizes particles close up to tires with unequalled precision and reproducibility. This analysis system, presented at Tire Technology, opens the way to tires with wear particles totally bio-assimilable by nature. There are questions being raised about tire and road wear particles. This is why it is essential to use reliable, reproducible and standardized measurements and will be a fundamental step in better understanding the environmental impact of these wear particles to innovate and devise new solutions.

Michelin, a leader in sustainability and innovation, today announced a $300 million CAD investment into its Canadian operations to accelerate sustainable mobility and improve its environmental footprint. The investment, part of Michelin’s global growth strategy, will see the installation of new technologies and equipment in Michelin’s three Nova Scotia production facilities to respond to market evolution. This includes manufacturing tires for the growing electric vehicle (EV) segment; larger rim size tires for passenger and light truck vehicles; as well as improved fuel efficiency for commercial trucks. In addition, the electrification of key parts of the manufacturing process will reduce carbon emissions at the plants.

A Swedish tire pyrolysis equipment manufacturer and operator Scandinavian Enviro Systems and the French global tire manufacturer Michelin, have extended the letter of intent regarding a strategic partnership which was announced in April 2020. Initially the parties expected that a final agreement would have been reached by mid-year 2020, but the negotiations have been somewhat delayed, partly due to the ongoing pandemic. Therefore, Enviro and Michelin are prolonging the letter of intent until the end of October this year where both companies assess that they will be able to provide more details at the latest. Simultaneously the exclusivity agreement is also prolonged until October 31 this year.
