Tyre Stewardship Australia opens applications for 2025 Market Development Fund
Tyre Stewardship Australia (TSA) has opened applications for its 2025 Market Development Fund, supporting Australian businesses, researchers and organisations to deliver innovative, practical projects using tyre-derived materials (TDM).
The Fund plays a key role in TSA’s mission to reduce the environmental, health and safety impacts of end-of-life tyres by building commercially viable end markets for Australian-processed materials. Since its inception, TSA has invested over $10 million in more than 70 projects spanning infrastructure, advanced manufacturing, and research—demonstrating the Fund’s strong track record in supporting real-world outcomes.
Applications are encouraged from organisations working in infrastructure, manufacturing, product development, research and government. Projects must use TDM sourced from Australia’s end-of-life tyres, and clearly align with TSA’s Guidelines.
TSA typically provides between $50,000 and $300,000 (excluding GST), with flexibility for larger or smaller amounts where proposals demonstrate exceptional outcomes.
Past recipients of the Fund include:
- Sun-smart UV-resistant roads developed by RMIT University
- Rubber T-Lok barriers produced by Saferoads in collaboration with the University of Melbourne
- Noise-reducing acoustic walls created by Flexiroc and UNSW
- Masonry products incorporating recycled rubber from Curtin University and McKeno
- Stormwater-reducing permeable pavements by Porous Lane
- Rubber sports and playground surfacing manufactured by A1 Rubber
- You can read more about our past Fund recipients and their projects here.
Expressions of Interest are now open and will be assessed in line with TSA’s Research and Advisory Committee (RAC) review schedule. To be considered in the next round, applications must be submitted by 9 May 2025.
