Apollo Tyres develops passenger vehicle tires with 75% sustainable materials
Apollo Tyres, the international tire manufacturer, is readying itself for sustainable mobility solutions. The company has now developed passenger vehicle tires with 75% sustainable materials. Apollo’s new sustainable product comprises many featured compounding ingredients in different components of the tires, including bio-based and recycled materials.
The sustainable natural rubber, used in these tires, have been sourced from suppliers who have public commitments to sourcing and/or traceable to specific plantations, in accordance with the company’s sustainable natural rubber policy.
Speaking about the development of these passenger vehicle tires, P K Mohamed, Chief Advisor, R&D, Apollo Tyres Ltd, said “We are confident about the performance of these tires developed using 75% sustainable materials, and have cleared regulatory performance requirements. These tires will now undergo extensive road evaluation under typical operating conditions. This development is aligned with the sustainability journey of Apollo Tyres and the goal of achieving the 40% sustainable material target by 2030, and of being carbon neutral by 2050. Our team continues to showcase innovation and commitment to building a sustainable future.”
These high performance Electric Passenger Vehicle tires (Apollo Amperion) and ultra-high performance (Apollo Aspire 4G+) passenger vehicle tires were manufactured at Apollo Tyres’ Andhra Pradesh plant, in the south-eastern coastal region of the country, which is the company’s latest and most modern manufacturing facility.
