UK-based tyre recycler Big Atom has formed an official partnership with Tyre Spot, a large independent tyre wholesaler in the Northeast of England. The agreement aims to improve the efficiency and compliance of used tyre disposal across Tyre Spot’s network.

With over 60,000 tyres in stock daily and a wide delivery footprint, Tyre Spot faced several logistical and environmental challenges in handling end-of-life tyres. Previously, scrap tyres were stored on-site or transported in delivery vans—raising fire safety concerns and reducing fleet efficiency. Environmental paperwork also added an administrative burden.

By appointing Big Atom as its recycling partner, Tyre Spot has offloaded these responsibilities. Big Atom now manages collection, processing, and compliance, allowing Tyre Spot to refocus its resources on customer service.

Big Atom uses a localized collection system and in-house shredding technology to turn used tyres into rubber granules for reuse—contributing to the UK’s shift toward a circular economy in the tyre sector.

The partnership, now one year in, has proven successful. Tyre Spot reports operational improvements, while Big Atom continues scaling its collection network.

“This collaboration helps us meet sustainability goals without compromising service,” said Big Atom Founder Alexander Guslisty. “It also shows how tyre recycling can be fully integrated into the supply chain.”

The model is seen as a template for other industry players looking to improve recycling outcomes without disrupting operations.
