As reported by the European Rubber Journal, Farrel Pomini expanded its investment in UK-based waste tire pyrolysis specialist WF Recycle-Tech, securing majority ownership and strengthening ties between the two companies. The move marked a significant step in scaling pyrolysis-based tire recycling technologies globally.

Headquartered in Ansonia, Connecticut, Farrel Pomini operates as part of Germany’s HF Group and had previously taken a minority stake in WF Recycle-Tech in 2021. The increased investment, announced on January 28, was described by WF Recycle-Tech as a milestone that would accelerate the commercial rollout of its tire pyrolysis systems.

WF Recycle-Tech developed a patented pyrolysis process designed to recycle end-of-life tires into valuable secondary materials, including recovered carbon black (rCB) and pyrolysis oil. The system integrated Farrel’s continuous mixer technology, enabling controlled and scalable processing of tire-derived feedstock.

According to Jo Dennis, managing director of WF Recycle-Tech, joining the HF Group structure provided access to a global support network, advanced technical expertise, and long-term investment capacity. He said the strengthened partnership significantly enhanced the company’s ability to scale its pyrolysis technology and deliver tire recycling solutions to international markets.

Farrel Pomini stated that the increased stake reinforced its commitment to sustainable technologies for the rubber and plastics industries. Paul Lloyd, president of Farrel Corp, noted that the acquisition aligned with the group’s long-term strategy to support solutions addressing global environmental and resource challenges.

Ian Wilson, co-chief executive officer of HF Group, said the combination of WF Recycle-Tech’s tire pyrolysis process with Farrel Pomini’s engineering capabilities and HF Group’s global infrastructure created a strong platform to tackle the growing challenge of end-of-life tire recycling worldwide.
