The Indian government released a draft document in January 2022 that includes recycling rates for the years 2022-23. It affects businesses that engaged in “any activity of production/manufacturing of new tires, import of new/waste tires and recycling of waste tires”.

As reported earlier, this year, India plans to implement an EPR scheme for tires. The consultation document was released in January, and the system has already been eased. In a letter from the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change to the All India Rubber & Tyre Recyclers Association (AIRTIA and the Recycling & Environment Industry Association of India (REIAI), the ministry advised on the following easement.

Bridgestone India Private Ltd. (BSID), a subsidiary of Bridgestone Corporation (Bridgestone), announced a strategic growth investment to expand capacity and capability in India. The investment will be directed to the Bridgestone Pune Plant and the Indore Plant to reinforce the company’s premium-mass strategy.
