SIGNUS said its 2025 operations involved 25,758 workshops and other tire generation points across Spain. The organization coordinated 116,959 collection operations during the year, which it said was equivalent to collecting tires from one point in Spain every minute. The collective system said the total managed volume of 230,901 tonnes was equivalent to more than 28 million passenger tires. Oman Cement is expanding its alternative fuels and raw materials strategy as part of efforts to reduce production costs, lower greenhouse gas emissions and improve the sustainability of cement manufacturing. In its Board of Directors’ report for the first half of 2026, the Muscat-based cement producer said it is strengthening the sourcing and use of alternative fuels and raw materials to increase its Thermal Substitution Rate, which measures the share of kiln thermal energy supplied by non-fossil fuel sources. The company is evaluating several options, including tire-derived fuel, recovered carbon black and oil sludge, while also continuing work with government authorities and other stakeholders on pretreatment and co-processing of municipal solid waste. The strategy could create additional outlets for end-of-life tire materials by linking tire recycling, pyrolysis outputs and cement kiln co-processing.

Ontario’s tire recycling system is facing renewed scrutiny as collection challenges, proposed regulatory changes and supply chain pressures affect the movement of end-of-life tires across the province. Dickinson County Road Commission has worked with Michigan Technological University and the Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy on research projects involving ground tire rubber modified asphalt since 2018. Officials said this work has helped the Road Commission build practical experience with the material and better understand how it performs in local road conditions.

In order to promote the sustainable development of road engineering, this study used waste tire rubber powder (RP) and surface organic layered double hydroxide (SOM-LDHs) to modify 70# matrix asphalt. The Box–Behnken design response surface method with three factors (rubber powder content, surface organic layered double hydroxide content, shear temperature) and three responses (penetration, ductility, softening point) was used to optimize the preparation parameters. The optimum formula was determined to be 21.7% rubber powder content, 4.8% surface organic layered double hydroxide content, and 160 °C shear temperature.
