With the name change, Pyrum wants to strengthen its brand identity and emphasise the independence and quality of its products. The reason for this is that the rCB and thermolysis oil available on the market do not always have the same specifications. rCB, for example, consists not only of recovered carbon black, but also contains inorganic additives from the tyres. This results in different mixtures that are not suitable for all applications. Pyrum’s products TTO® and TTB® are produced in the company’s own patented thermolysis process and have a precisely defined mixing ratio and specific properties that distinguish them from other products on the market and therefore require a unique designation.

The certification marks a crucial step for Pyrum’s industrial scaling. It combines the circular economy with a regulated, rapidly growing energy market: Pyrum’s thermolysis oil can now be used in a framework that is significant for the market development of sustainable fuels in Europe. This substantially broadens Pyrum’s commercialization opportunities, particularly in the segments of biofuels, bioliquids, biomass fuels, and co-processed fuels.

Following the successful establishment of the joint venture UniPyrum, Pyrum Innovations AG (‘Pyrum’, ISIN: DE000A2G8ZX8) and UNITANK Holding GmbH & Co. KG (‘UNITANK’) are embarking on the next crucial phase of the project. The signing of an engineering and consulting agreement between Pyrum and UniPyrum has laid the foundation for the first joint plant at the UNITANK tank farm in Emleben.

Dillingen, Saar / Hamburg, 9 January 2026 – Pyrum Innovations AG('Pyrum', ISIN: DE000A2G8ZX8) from Saarland and Hamburg-based Unitank Holding GmbH& Co. KG('UNITANK'), a leading operator of independent tank farms, signed a shareholder agreement to establish a joint venture. This partnership will lay the foundation for the construction of five to ten state-of-the-art recycling plants for end-of-life tyres in Europe in the coming years. Pyrum holds a 49% stake in the new joint venture, while UNITANK Group holds a 51% stake.

VTTI B.V., an industry leader in energy infrastructure, has opened a market consultation for recovered carbon black (rCB) as part of the VTTI TyreLoop Antwerp project at its existing terminal VTTI Antwerp, Belgium. The initiative marks an important milestone in VTTI’s commitment to addressing the global waste challenge and supporting the energy transition.

Pyrum Innovations AG and SUAS Ecology s.r.o. have a Shareholder agreement for the joint venture „SUAS reTIRE s.r.o.“ in the Czech Republic. Under the terms of the agreement, Pyrum is taking a 49 % stake in the equity of the new joint venture, which will develop, build and operate a state-of-the-art recycling plant in the Czech Republic provides. By successfully securing its equity share of around € 8.6 million, Pyrum has taken an important step towards full project financing. Another major milestone is the Conclusion of a long-term oil purchase agreement over ten years for the pyrolysis oil produced at the future plant – a strong signal of confidence in Pyrum’s technology and the future viability of the project.

Pyrum Innovations AG announced that its partner, Thermo Lysi SA, has received funding approval from the European Innovation Fund (EIF), securing €29.4 million for their joint tire recycling project in Greece. The facility, which will process around 45,000 tonnes of end-of-life tires annually, is set to become one of Europe’s largest and most advanced pyrolysis plants. Built on Pyrum’s patented thermolysis technology, the project represents a total investment of approximately €100 million, with Pyrum planning to acquire at least a 10% equity stake in the project company.
