According to the Roads & Infrastructure Australia magazine, a collaborative project led by Alex Fraser, ecologiQ, and Entyr has resulted in an innovative alternative for asphalt production in Victorian roads. This initiative aims to address the significant issue of end-of-life tires in Australia, with approximately 70 percent of these tires now being recycled. Alex Fraser, a key player in this venture, developed TyrePave rCB (Recovered Carbon Black), a sustainable alternative to fine ground limestone in asphalt production.

Smithers recently announced that its annual event Carbon Black World – one of the world's leading forums for the carbon black value chain – is scheduled for November 10-12, in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States. On March 10, 2021, Black Bear Carbon, the innovative company that recovers carbon black, oil and gas from end-of-life tire granulate, has announced in its press release its intention to build a factory at the Chemelot industrial park in Geleen. A previous factory in Nederweert, in a joint venture with tire recycler Kargro, was dismantled after a fire in February 2019. After an intensive period of two years, Black Bear Carbon is living up to its reputation as a technology pioneer with the development of a best-in-class factory in terms of process, safety and reliability. At the end of 2019, Black Bear Carbon announced that it was going to Rotterdam and made an energetic start towards that goal in 2020. In the course of 2020, timely realization of RCBNL turned out to be difficult to achieve due to the issue regarding nitrogen deposition rights. In close collaboration with Chemelot, the BBC has looked at the alternatives and decided to settle in the south of Limburg province.

Swedish tire pyrolysis equipment manufacturer and tire recycler Scandinavian Enviro Systems has presented its new forecast for recovered carbon black (rCB) market which is expected to reach over $490 million by 2023. This can be explained by a projected demand growth for recovered carbon black and certified carbon black produced by Enviro; the materials are expected to see demand increase due to a deficit of virgin carbon black.
