The Australian Tyre Recyclers Association (ATRA) has released a new video highlighting opportunities to improve the recovery and recycling of off-the-road mining tires in Australia. ATRA said new opportunities are available for miners and OTR tire manufacturers to increase resource recovery and direct more mining tires into established recycling pathways. Kelman said ATRA members are able to collect tires from mining regions across Australia and process them into materials and products for domestic use and export.

The Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks in Ontario has proposed amendments to provincial waste regulations that could reshape how used tires are collected, processed, and managed under Ontario’s producer responsibility framework. The proposed updates apply to the Tires Regulation (O. Reg. 225/18), the Hazardous and Special Products Regulation (O. Reg. 449/21), and the Administrative Penalties Regulation (O. Reg. 558/22), all made under the Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act, 2016.

The Company and the Contractor have recently signed a binding Design-Build contract with a not-to-exceed price of $6.6 million, with substantial completion expected by January 15, 2020.

Neste, Borealis and Covestro have signed a project agreement to enable the recycling of discarded tires into high-quality plastics for automotive applications. The collaboration aims at driving circularity in plastics value chains and the automotive industry. When no longer fit for use, tires are liquefied by means of chemical recycling and then processed into base chemicals and further into polycarbonates of high purity. These can then be used in various automotive applications, from parts of headlamps to radiator grilles.
