T.O. Fuller State Park outside Memphis, Tennessee has had a new 2.5 mile trail laid using recycled tire rubber. The walking and biking path is one of the longest rubber-base trails in the U.S. Local contractors and volunteers collected more than 24,000 tires that had been illegally dumped in the area from passenger, commercial truck and heavy equipment vehicles.

This week, Tyrecycle's recycling facility in East Rockingham, located 40 kilometers south of Perth, received its first delivery of off-the-road (OTR) tyres from Alcoa’s mining operations.

On the day when the incident happened, the seventeen-year-old employee standing on the trailer saw that a long piece of rubber stuck in the out-feed. Therefore, he signaled the controller to reverse the shredder. Feeding the piece of rubber back into the shredder with his right hand, he held the side of the out-feed with the left hand. Unfortunately, rubber piece was pulled into the shredder swiftly and worker’s right hand was pulled with it. All fingers of his right hand we amputated by the shredder whereas his right thumb proved unsalvageable after a surgery which aimed to reattach it.

Canadian Emergency Measures Organization has been working hard to extinguish a tire fire in Minto, a village in the south of New Brunswick. The Organization’s Spokesman Geoffrey Downey said the final loads of sand have been dumped at the TRACC recycling facility. Canadian Press reported that the fire broke out at the facility on December 20 and spread onto one hectare of adjacent land. Mr. Downey said heavy equipment and extra loads of sand had been left at the site in case molten tires catch fire again.

The Resource Productivity & Recovery Authority (RPRA) – Canadian end-of-life tire management authority – has posted the final 2021 Registry fees for end-of-life tires and other recyclable materials. These are fees that producers obligated under the Tires Regulation, Batteries Regulation and Information Technology, Telecommunications and Audio-Visual (ITT/AV) portion of the EEE Regulation under the Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act, 2016 (RRCEA) are required to pay to the Authority in 2021 to recover its operational costs, including costs related to building and operating the Registry, and compliance and enforcement activities.

The U.S.-made system, which includes an M120 two-shaft shredder and a trommel screen, provides a cost-effective and space-efficient solution. From the beginning of 2023, the Masterbatch market in Asia, especially in India and China, has experienced fluctuating pricing trends from the beginning of 2023. Due to decreasing demand from downstream industries like electronics, packaging, and rubber, the pricing trend for Masterbatch in the local Indian market has been bearish. Black Masterbatch (40% carbon black) cost $1977 per ton in India in January 2023 but fell to $1770 per ton in February 2023, a 10.5% decrease. Due to declining naphtha and coal prices in the domestic Indian market, prices decreased further by 6.9% to $1648 per ton in March 2023.
